20 Feb DHL Global partners SOS
Leading international logistic company, DHL Global Forwarding Nigeria Limited, says it has partnered SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria to boost the development of children and youths in the country.
The Managing Director, DHL Global Forwarding, Ms. Heather Frankie, said the development was part of the efforts of the company to give back to the society through developmental programmes that would prepare youths for the future.
She said partnership was formalised last March and is renewable after three years.
The SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria is a social development organisation that caters for children who are at risk of losing parental care and those who have lost parental care.
She said the logistic company had supported the NGO to the tune of €20,000, adding that the donation marked the formation of the official partnership between the two organisations for the next three years.
Frankie said, We want to introduce and reconfirm the partnership between the DHL and SOS here in Nigeria and our commitment to that partnership. We are committed to the development of children and youths.
Noting that supporting an organisation should not be restricted to monetary donation, Frankie said mental and skills development and exposing youths to business environment early in life could make a world of difference.
“We’ve been working with the SOS Children’s Villages here in Nigeria for many years before 2015. It was just that last year the partnership was formally recognised by the parent company. When they recognised this programme, they donated the €20,000 from their Corporate Social Responsibility Fund. Nigeria happens to be one of the five countries benefiting from this,” she added.
The Finance and Control Adviser, SOS Nigeria, Mr. Tunde Irunukhar, said the partnership would also cover educational support for many children.
