Strengthening Community Response to Child Protection Risks

SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria and JDF train and inaugurate Child Protection Committees across three states

SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria and JDF have equipped and inaugurated Community Child Protection Committees to enhance grassroots efforts in preventing and responding to child protection issues.

SOS CVN and its implementing partner, JDF implemented a two-day capacity-building training for nominated Community Child Protection Committee (CCPC) members in Gyel Community, Plateau State, Bulabulin and Gwange Communities, Borno State and Ihogbe Community, Edo State, followed by a formal inauguration and linkage to the respective state Child Protection Network (CPN).

The capacity building sessions reached 60 (31M, 29F) Community Child Protection Committee (CCPC), with the inauguration widely attended by several state level stakeholders and government representatives such as the respective states Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development (MWASD), CPN, NAPTIP, Ministry of Justice, NHRC, NPF, NSCDC, NIS, JONAPWD, and community stakeholders.

The purpose of the training was to strengthen community- level capacity to prevent, identify, and respond to child protection risks through improved knowledge of child protection principles, legal frameworks, safeguarding standards, and approved referral pathways.
