Every child deserves a loving home. SOS Children’s Villages in Nigeria is dedicated to child care and development. We aim to build inclusive societies where the most vulnerable and marginalized children can thrive. Through numerous programs across Nigeria, SOS Children’s Villages provides a nurturing family environment for children.
Children need stable, supportive, and caring relationships to reach their full potential. When their rights are respected and fulfilled, they can succeed in life. At SOS Children’s Villages, we uphold the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which recognizes that a caring and protective family is essential for a child’s development. We also follow the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children, emphasizing the importance of a child’s family and appropriate alternative care.
With our unique SOS family care model, we create a family-like environment for children without adequate parental care. Through our work with SOS families, we continually gain experience and expand our care expertise. We use this knowledge to prevent vulnerable families from breaking down through family strengthening and to engage in other locally relevant forms of alternative care.
