SOS Children's Villages Plateau is situated in Kwata community in Jos South Local Government Area North Central zone of Nigeria. From inception in 2011, the village had twelve family houses, a health center, education facilities, administrative and programme offices. The programme has been a place of succor to children who had experienced one form of trauma especially during the critical communal clashes and herdsmen attack in 2011, which resulted to children losing parental care and families displaced from their communities.
The achievements recorded today at the location are not without the support of partners, stakeholders across communities, LGAs, government agencies, and well-meaning individuals, working together in the best interest of children, young people and families at the location.
The location had carried out various interventions from inception till date under these projects:
- Alternative care (Family like care)
- Family strengthening (MFS11 2012-2015 and FS Heimstaden Project 2022 – till date)
- Johnson and Johnson catapult project – 2016 to 2020
- Grieg Gender challenge project – 2017 till date.
- The Next Economy – 2018 – 2023
Through these initiatives, SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria (Plateau Programme) sustainably, keep empowering families to shape their own futures.
